Shown is a 1989 airmail cover from France addressed to Iceland. It is very nicely franked by the 3.70 Franc Vaux Le Vicomte commemorative. A black framed marking in the upper left shows that it was "MISSENT TO IRELAND". The fact that the Irish post office has such a marking tells us that this happens frequently enough to issue the handstamp. Iceland and Ireland are easy to mix up when the post office handles millions of letter daily. A neat piece of postal history!
