June 22, 1918 from Blankenburg-Mark Prisoner of War stationary.
Cover is addressed to A.E.S. Smythe; Conn's father. Smythe was shot down over German lines. He was an observer with the RAF following his recovery from wounds.
He spent 14 months in German camps. During his internment he would have been allowed 2 letters a month. Thus, this is one of a possible 28 covers from Smythe while prisoner.
Noted as received July 25, 1918. The stationary although beat up has the camp printed and two hand stamps in red all from Blankenburg which was a large
camp that housed POWs.
A very interesting cover! Thanks Bob.
