Cover of the Month
Wilding Rate Cover.
The first cover of a series of Wilding covers provided by Ingo.
Front of Cover

This innocuous looking cover tells a very interesting rate
story. A pair of 1c Queen Elizabeth II defintives with the
Wilding portrait pay a rate of 2c. Not bad for a journey
from Saskatoon to Rotterdam in 1957. This is the correct
surface letter rate for Printed Papers to non-British
Empire UPU Countries up to 2 ounces. The envelope is
unsealed, following a regulation for this rate to allow
inspection of contents by postal authorities. Another
feature is the slogan machine cancel "Christmas Seals Fight
TB in Every Home" that ties the stamps to the cover.
Finally, the destination of Holland (The Netherlands) while
not rare, is somewhat unusual for this type of mail, most
of which is found destined to the USA or United Kingdom.
A terrific Cover!! Thanks Ingo!
