The front of this item shows an inexpensive uprated postal stationery item. The reverse side though shows that it is a piece of mail salvaged from an aircraft crash.

July 5 1970 Toronto Ontario.

An air Canada DC-8, flight 621 from Montreal crashed in a field north of Toronto International Airport after an abortive attempt to land at the airport. 109 passengers and crew perished in the disaster. The aircraft was carrying about 1100 pounds of mail composed of 43 bags of first and third class mail and 126 pieces of registered letters. About 600pounds of mail were salvaged. Each salvaged piece was handstamped "SALVAGED FROM / AIR CRASH JULY 5".
