This cover left Whitehorse to Dawson via Mayo Landing, Wernecke and Keno Hill, under terrible weather conditions. The plane was unable to cross Pelly Summit on route to Mayo Landing. The lubricating oil in the engine congealed forcing pilot Andy Cruickshank to land the plane at the base of the summit.
Mail from the plane was picked up by the Greenfield and Pikering Company and was ultimately delivered by dog teams. Mail was postmarked on the date of arrival. This cover reached Dawson on December 4, 1927. Service was suspended until repairs to the plane were made.
It should also be noted that this is a commercial cover. Commercial covers are very rare to find since most Semi-Official mail was philatelic in nature.
