Cover of the Month
A great cover presented by the Webmaster. A very interesting piece of postal history.
Patricia Airways Cover: Toronto-Woman Lake via Sioux Lookout.

Back
The president of Patricia Airways, F.E. Davidson, accompanied this flight and made sure that only covers posted at his company's Toronto office were carried. As a result, all covers carried on this flight have a special green maple leaf cachet which can be seen on the front and back.
The cover was flown from Toronto to Sioux Lookout and then to Woman Lake. As post offices were not yet available in Woman Lake, the company provided a circular cancel in black ink as shown on the back.
This was also the first usage of CL 18 on cover. The design was the same as previous company stamps, however, it was printed on greenish-blue paper. The new paper was to signify the rate of 50 cents. This proved confusing as rates changed, the company had to add overprints to existing stamps. AS a result, the company issued a myriad of stamps and varieties.
An interesting piece of postal history.
